Enhanced Chords Management in Choruby

November 16, 2024

We’re excited to announce a significant update to our chords management system in Choruby! After much anticipation, you can now effortlessly input chords directly into lyrics without relying on the chord numbering system, although we continue to support the Nashville Number System for those who prefer it.

Here’s how to use the new chord input feature:

  1. Edit or Create a Song:
    • Open an existing song for editing or start a new one.
  2. Set the Key:
    • Begin by selecting the key for your song.
  3. Input Chords:
    • As you type your lyrics, insert chords directly within square brackets where you want them to appear. For example:
Am[F]azing grace, how sw[Bb]eet the so[F]und,
That s[Dm]aved a wr[G]etch like [C]me!
I o[F]nce was lost, but n[Bb]ow am fo[f]und,
Was [dm]blind, but n[c]ow I s[f]ee.

Your chord inputs are not case-sensitive, as seen above, making it even easier to use.

Behind the Scenes:

Choruby automatically converts these chord names into their corresponding Nashville numbers, ensuring consistency and ease of transposition:

Am[1]azing grace, how sw[4]eet the so[1]und,
That s[6m]aved a wr[2]etch like [5]me!
I o[1]nce was lost, but n[4]ow am fo[1]und,
Was [6m]blind, but n[5]ow I s[1]ee.

This update simplifies the songwriting and editing process, making Choruby an even more versatile tool for musicians. Try it out and let us know what you think! Your feedback is invaluable as we continue to enhance the platform.
